An impromptu trip to Saigon served mostly as a rare opportunity to travel and relax with friends from high school. Being exposed to the rich culture and turbulent history of Vietnam while I was there, it had me reflect on the importance of and the right to resistance against meddling powers that continuously seek to diminish and destroy the identity of a people (particularly after my time in Palestine). Above all I’m so grateful for the kindness of every local we had the pleasure of interacting with. I witnessed a level of day to day organised chaos in Vietnam I hadn’t experienced for a long time, though that perception would soon be thoroughly superseded by my time in Egypt…
